Our waterproof backpacks fall into two categories based on their level of water protection:

• IP66-rated backpacks are fully waterproof and suitable for quick submersion. They feature high-frequency welded seams and a roll-top sealing system to ensure complete protection from water, dirt, and sand—making them ideal for paddleboarding, kayaking, or heavy rain.

• IP65-rated backpacks are foul weather and spray proof. While not suitable for submersion, they offer excellent protection from rain, splashes, and dust, making them great for everyday commuting and outdoor use in wet conditions.

"Quick submersion" refers to our backpacks' ability to withstand brief periods of submersion in water without allowing water to penetrate. This means they can handle situations like accidental drops in water or short immersion, but they are not designed for prolonged submersion. For complete protection, we recommend ensuring the roll-top seal is securely fastened before exposing the backpack to water.

Yes, the OverBoard Urban 20L Waterproof Backpack includes a dedicated quick-access 16" laptop compartment with a weatherproof zip for added protection. Additionally, our waterproof backpacks are compatible with the Medium and Large Backpack Tidys, which securely attach to the back wall and support laptops up to 14" and 15", keeping them safe and organised.

All of our 20L and 30L waterproof backpacks are designed to fit within standard cabin carry-on limits, making them ideal for air travel.

Our larger 45L waterproof backpack also comes close to most airline size restrictions, measuring 49cm (H) x 33cm (W) x 28cm (D). While the depth slightly exceeds some airline limits, its soft, flexible design often allows it to fit into overhead compartments—especially when not fully packed.

The Coolers Dry Bags include an external weatherproof zip pocket with an IP65 rating.

• The main compartment (IP66) is designed for quick submersion and will protect contents if the bag is briefly dropped in water.
• The weatherproof zip pocket (IP65) is foul weather and spray proof, meaning it can handle rain, splashes, and spray—but it is not submersible. Water may enter the zip pocket if the bag is fully submerged.

Tip: Store valuables, electronics, or water-sensitive items inside the main roll-top compartment rather than the outer zip pocket when in wet or unpredictable conditions

Yes, all of our IP66-rated waterproof backpacks are suitable for swimming. However, it's important to avoid prolonged submersion and to ensure the backpack is sealed correctly, as per the instructions. Keeping the roll-top seal as high above the waterline as possible will help maintain waterproof protection and keep your belongings dry.

Both the Medium and Large Backpack Tidys are compatible with all our waterproof backpacks, including the smallest 20L size. They securely fit inside and help keep your gear organised, regardless of the backpack size.

To clean your waterproof backpack, simply wipe it down with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. If the backpack has been used in saltwater, be sure to rinse it with fresh water to remove any salt residue. Avoid using harsh chemicals or putting it in the washing machine. For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush to gently scrub the affected areas. Make sure to let the backpack air dry completely before storing it.
